Are you one of our 28 aspiring changemakers, crazy enough to think you can reform the world?
(You can.)
-----
change course is an education for changemakers; individuals who feel that there are issues in the world which require immediate attention, and are ready to take action.

Our main focus at change course is to build your toolbox - to experiment with tools and methods for changemaking out in the real world. To do this we launch a number of particpant-run projects, addressing relevant real world issues together with real stakeholders.

Our advanced course

MAKING IMPACT

What is it?: The next level. Run your own project for radical change

This is where we step it up - The future can't wait (and neither can you, we know).
-----
The more advanced program has a slightly different format. The majority of the year will be centered around a major project of your own. This will give you the means to completely immerse yourself in an issue and a solution of your choice, with school staff supporting you every step of the way.

When you apply to MAKING IMPACT you might already have some previous experience as an activist or running NGOs or businesses. Or if you're just very passionate about running one project you can always take our fast-paced BOOTCAMP to get you ready for MAKING IMPACT.

BOOTCAMP

What is it?: An intense two week program to get you ready for Making Impact

The entire year of Change Maker´s Toolbox condensed into six days?
Sounds impossible? - So did the Apollo 11 moon landing.
-----
Are you curious about change course, but not ready to commit to a full year of studies? Are you applying for Making Impact without first having taken The Changemaker's Toolbox? Well, that's what the bootcamp is for.

During one very intense summer week we will explore as many changemaking tools as we possibly can, including:
    * Passion & purpose
    * Design thinking
    * Complex problem solving
    * Teamwork
     * Personal leadership

We'll not be able to cover all bases of a year-long education here, it's more a question of cherry-picking. And my do we have a lot of good stuff to choose from.

LIFE AT
CHANGE COURSE

And how the heck can this education be for free?!

Väddö Folkhögskola

Väddö Folkhögskola is located in the heart of beautiful Roslagen, Stockholm county. The school has, since its foundation 1879, been a place where people with diverse interests and goals live and study together. The closeness to sea and nature is a central element in the identity of the school, as well as the spirit of innovation and flexibility.

Cost & financing

The course is delivered through the Swedish folk high school system, and completely free of charge for EU/EFTA citizens.

If you are not a citizen of an EU/EFTA country there is a tuition fee of SEK 35 000 per semester, paid in advance. We have a maximum of two scholarships available for international participants, to cover tuition and boarding fees. Contact us directly if you are interested in applying for this scholarship. Please note that processing times for applications of a Swedish visa often can take up to three months.

Swedish students will be granted funding and loan from CSN to cover costs of living. A similar situation is true for participants from some other countries. Contact the relevant authority in your country for more information. If needed we can consult directly with your case manager.

If you choose to stay on campus, there is a monthly fee of SEK 4159 - 4697 (approx. EUR 400-450) per month depending on room standard. In this fee food is included from monday breakfast until friday lunch. The boarding facilities are complete with fully equipped kitchens for cooking during other times of the week.

If you decide to live off campus there is a fee of SEK 5460 (approx EUR 520) per semester to cover lunch, coffee, and arrangements for special events.

More information is available in Swedish on the website of Väddö Folkhögskola. If you prefer English, please contact us directly at: info@changecourse.se

Equal opportunity

Väddö folkhögskola and change course does not discriminate on nationality, age, gender, background, sexual orientation or variations of body function. Except for our            motivativation to make a positive impact, diversity is what brings us together.

Is this for me?

The education is classified as gymnasial adult education. This means that we're looking for indivuduals who are at least 18 years of age, and who have completed an education at the elementary school level. However, we aim to keep the content level closer to what a university would deliver. You do not need to have a solid idea of what it is you would like to focus your energy on during the education period, this is something we can explore together. What you DO need is the motivation and energy to make a positive difference.

All lectures and workshops are conducted in English, meaning that a conversational level understanding of the English language is a requirement for admission.

THE FOLK HIGH SCHOOL SYSTEM

("folkhögskola") is a Nordic form of adult education. It is a place where people meet to study, connect and gain new insights. At the folk high school participants can complete unfinished high school studies, focus on deepening their interests or educate themselves for an occupation.

Studies in traditional school subjects go hand in hand with a more free form of knowledge acquisition.  The living conversation, collaboration, personal development and participant influence are all central to the folk high school concept.

AND WHEN I'M DONE?

What future awaits a changemaker?

There are many ways in which changemakers can make their impact.
We can start a new business or non-profit. We can help transforming existing businesses to become more aware of how their behavior affect the world, and make that footprint a positive one. We can apply our methods and tools to serve the causes that are dear to us, whichever those causes might be.

One thing we're fairly certain of is that when the course is over, you'll leave with sharp problem solving skills and be on a mission to change things for the better. This together with like-minded individuals, some of which who will be your friends for life.
